Litro Gas Decides Not to Increase Domestic Gas Cylinder Prices Despite World Market Hike

Aug 20, 2023

Litro Gas, a leading gas provider, has made the decision to maintain the current prices of domestic gas cylinders, despite the recent increase in liquefied petroleum (LP) gas prices in the world market. This decision comes after earlier discussions stating that domestic LP gas cylinder prices would be increased as part of the monthly price revision, based on the pricing formula.

The Chairman of Litro Gas, Muditha Peiris, had previously announced that the prices of domestic LP gas cylinders would be increased on the same day as the price increase in the world market. However, he has now confirmed that the company will not proceed with this price hike.

Peiris explained that the price of a metric tonne of LP gas in the world market has risen by over US$ 85 since the recent price revision. Based on the pricing formula, this would result in an increase of Rs.470 for a 12.5kg LP gas cylinder.

Litro Gas has recently implemented four consecutive price reductions, the most recent one being on July 5th. With this revision, the price of a 12.5kg cylinder was lowered to Rs.2,892 and a 5kg cylinder to Rs.1,198.

As of now, Litro Gas has decided to maintain the current prices of domestic gas cylinders, providing relief to its customers amid the global price hike.
